Patriots Point Science & History Program 

(The One Stop Field Trip) 

Since August of 2004, over 15,000 students have participated in the History & Science program offered by Charleston Explorers and Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum. The 2 - 2.5 hour program, based on the South Carolina educational standards, includes a one hour History Tour on the United States Aircraft Carrier Yorktown and a one hour hands on interactive science program on the United States Coast Guard Cutter Ingham. All research conducted by the students in submitted by the students to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources website as a post visit activity.  The $10 participant fee includes admission, along with the history and science programs. Each program's curriculum can be adjusted to the groups needs.

Mobile Classroom Out Reach Program  

We are once again proud to  bring the wonders of the marine environment to your class room. For groups of 20-30 students, we offer an one hour (1hr) multi- media hands on interactive standards based  investigative program for students from K-12. Our traveling projector microscopes, allow the students a beyond the naked eye view of the oyster research work being conducted at Patriots Point.  Pre-visit activity sheets focus on oyster habitat identification and life cycle. Price - $3.per student. (Grant Subsidies available for qualifying programs)
